With the abundance of garlic scapes this time of year, we will make pesto, soup, and more with farm educators from Holly Hill.
Are you in a salad rut? With some creative shifts and new ideas, come learn with the educators from Holly Hill how to make salads that you can get excited about. We will sample salads while we sip.
At this workshop, participants will have a chance to plan out their flower gardens for timing and blooms throughout the seasons. We will learn about edible flowers, their human and ecological uses, and folks can take home recipes and some early flower seedlings to jump start spring bloom
As our gardens start to grow in spring, so do pest populations! Learn to be proactive in protecting your produce through applying IPM (integrated pest management) in your home garden. Participants will learn about pest life cycles, identifying damage, preventative cultural practices, as well as organic and sustainable interventions. Folks will leave this workshop with their own pest management plans, as well as supplies for a biological control garden that’s both beautiful and beneficial!
We will discuss the produce on offer at local markets and greenhouses while we cook up a hearty soup and learn about nutrient density and human health.
Learn how to craft and care for one of our most vital natural resources, soil! Participants will learn how to perform an initial soil assessment, get guidance on how to get and interpret lab based soil tests, and craft their own sustainable growing media that can be used for seedling, house plants, window boxes, and more!
Get ready to get out in your garden this spring by learning about early crop seeding, season extension, and how to craft a plan for success that will maximize your growing space. Participants will get personalized guidance on crop selection, seedling care, early planting practices, and how to transition seasonal crops in a way that boosts productivity and preserves soil health.
Learn about Native seeds and actively take part in sowing seeds now for Spring growth and long term planting. We will plant a variety of flowers and have many to take home too.
Learn how to use farm fresh produce to create an array of unique and captivating beverages.
A professional bartender (and Farm Educator from Friends of Holly Hill Farm) will share tips and tricks regarding a variety of drink bases, mixers, and processes.
Participants will work together to make a seltzer cocktail and shandy mixers to pair with some delicious Untold beverages, as well as a recipe booklet to take with you.
Flowers do so much more for us than just provide beauty during the growing season. Learn how to save and utilize a variety of blooms in arrangements, teas, cosmetics, and more! Participants will leave with their own floral craft and a guide to preserving flowers.
Planting in November? Yes, it's the right time to plant and “heel in” garlic! We’ll learn what it takes for it to thrive, rest, grow, and how to prepare the soil. We’ll sample some organic garlic from this year’s harvest at Holly Hill Farm, too!
And, speaking of preparing the soil, the key to a sustainable, healthy, and thriving garden (and environment) is to nourish the soil! Winter is a great time of year to do this. We’ll learn about how to “put your garden to bed” for winter to keep your soil happy and healthy!
Did you know that fall is a perfect time to start collecting seeds? By doing so, you have the chance for your crops to make a return in the spring!
Learn how to capture seeds from sunflowers, squash, tomato, cilantro, beans, corn and amaranth to name a few!
Learn about the wide variety of local, indigenous,, and Native plants as we grow, plant and even taste some perennial, reliable plants that are beneficial for the environment and native pollinators too.

Learn about what hardy plants will grow well into the fall and early winter. Some might even make a return next spring! Learn about varieties of kale, chards, celery, parsley, arugula, peas and lettuces. In addition to enjoying a fresh, cold Untold, participants will take home some crops to plant!
