Title: Taproom Staff (full-time)

Classification: Hourly, plus tips

Reports to: Taproom Manager

Location: 6 Old Country Way, Scituate, MA 02066

Brewery Summary: Untold Brewing is a production brewery and taproom located in Scituate, MA. We are building a team of highly motivated, passionate, fun people who believe in the importance of great beer.

Summary of Position: Taproom Staff is a customer-facing role that is responsible for the overall beer drinker experience at Untold. Other responsibilities include serving at the bar, filling beer-to-go, and working quickly and professionally while maintaining an awesome demeanor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promptly greet beer drinkers with enthusiasm and friendliness as they approach the bar

  • Engage with guests and assess their needs/tastes to make informed recommendations

  • Process payments using the POS system; take payment and make change accurately

  • Be proactive about keeping the bar workspace and the taproom area clean, with bathrooms clean and fully stocked

  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of Untold beers and other beer styles (in-house training provided)

  • Check identification of beer drinkers to verify they are of legal drinking age; identify signs indicating intoxication and other concerning factors

  • Weekend/nighttime availability and scheduling flexibility is required

  • A passion for craft beer

  • Strong teamwork

Desired Skills and Attributes

  • Prior experience in fast paced restaurant, bar, or hospitality environment

  • Effective communication skills and efficient decision-making in occasionally stressful situations

  • Strong work ethic and a willingness to support other departments as necessary

  • TIPS, ServeSafe and/or CPR/ChokeSafe certification highly desired

Physical Requirements

We are a growing company, which means duties occasionally call for flexibility to assist with tasks not directly related to taproom services. Some tasks require work on the production floor in a working brewery environment. This environment may include the following conditions:

  • Variable climate conditions

  • Wet floors

  • Sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, bending, lifting, carrying, and wiping

  • Lifting up to 55 pounds and moving up to 160 pounds
